History

History of our Village Hall

The old original village hall served the village for many years with numerous social events and on important occasions such as receiving evacuees during the second world war and celebrations on Coronation Day 1953.

It was replaced in 1978 with a first world war wooden building transported from Saighton Camp and erected by young unemployed people. This was organised by the people of the village including Hilary Marks , whose name now appears above the main hall doorway. The new hall was officially opened by Lord Leverhulme.
